The leaves of Corn Spurrey are unusual for a member of the pink family, in that they are fleshy and linear, and form whorls at the swollen joints of the stems. The plant is branched at the base, the stems bending upwards. The flowers, with five white unnotched petals and five green sepals beneath, open in the afternoon.
LEAVES : Whorled, linear, fleshy, and grooved underneath.
PLANT HEIGHT : 5–40cm.
FLOWER SIZE : 4–8mm wide.
FRUIT : Pendent capsule, split into five valves.
FLOWERING TIME : May–August.
SIMILAR SPECIES : None.
